Offered for sale is an original Australian Cedar Chest of drawers. It was made in the historic Hawkesbury district of NSW around 1850 & it is presented in original condition. It is a prime example of early Australian furniture. All timbers are Hawkesbury Red Cedar with no secondary timbers employed. Thomas Urquhart & David Adamson were cabinet makers who were renowned for producing high quality, elegant & fashionable furniture during the second half of the 19th Century. Kobe Japan" is fitted to the back. It is a traditional Chest as was typically owned & used by Japanese high society during the 19th & early 20th Century. Stamped "STERLING SILVER" to the ferrules, the case is labelled with the maker's mark "BIRKS". This set was made Circa 1920 & it presents in excellent, undamaged condition. Each piece weighs 21.2 grams & the total weight is 127 grams. Length is 6". Henry Birks & Sons (Montreal Canada Est 1879) was known for producing the finest quality sterling silver table ware. An original cast iron garden table that was made by Falkirk Iron Foundries in Falkirk Scotland. It is cast with the following marks - Cast Iron Registration Diamond showing February 1860.
