Antique stringed musical instrument

I've been collecting interesting 'junk' since the 1960's as my grandfather did before that. Now it's time to sell some. Don't know what type of stringed musical instrument it is, but it's genuinely old and my guess, it's one of a kind! Wood construction with 8 strings and lots of ribbons. Has inscribed on face, the word 'Carrerra' or something similar. A nice conversation piece that will only grow in value should you decide to restore.
