1965 XP Ford Falcon deluxe wagon, original 170 pursuit, 3 speed a
She's a good solid car, starts first time every time, has always been extremely reliable and a joy to drive over the years. Whilst we haven’t driven her as much as we used to in the last few years, she was our daily driver for a long time. She’s been regularly serviced and maintained over the years.
I have a an old log book detailing service history from 25,000 miles (it came with the car when I bought it). It notes that it was sold in 1979 and again in 1998. I purchased in 2003, so it appears as I'm possibly the 4th owner.
She had a partial restoration in 2010 after a minor accident on driver rear side. At the same time she was resprayed inside and out and the interior was redone. The exterior paint has since faded over that time and some rust has started to appear however the body is pretty straight. Inside was a full retrim including new foam in the front and rear seats so they’re super comfy to sit on. The new upholstery is much cooler to sit on, if you've ever sat on the original seats on a hot summers day you'll know what I mean! The windscreen rubbers were replaced as well. The stereo has been mounted under the dash, and no speaker holes have been cut into the kick panels as we wanted to keep it as original as possible.
The exterior/interior chrome in very good/excellent condition with all badges/lettering complete, ie no missing items. The original headliner is in very good condition.
Most recent works (receipts available) include a surface and valve grind ($1600), new brake master cylinder and front wheel cylinders ($940), ball joints, control arms, bushes, tie rod ends, idler arm and drag link ($2,500).
The sunvisor and original venetians (which have been restored and powdercoated) are included with the sale.
There is some rust in the bottom of the doors, in the tailgate and also a bit coming through in the sill on the roof. It’s not major or structural and it’s as you would expect of a car this age. There is also a petrol stain under the cap where the petrol overruns.
Currently registered to June 19 so we will be selling unregistered.
This is a good example of a car of this age that has been cared for. It is very much a reluctant sale as we have 2 other cars, and it’s becoming harder each year to justify paying 3 registrations. With that said the price is fairly firm as we would rather keep her than give her away.
Inspections welcomed, we live in Annerley, Brisbane.
