Rare early 1950s Domus Chair by Ilmari Tapiovaara As seen in Helsinki Design Museum In 1946, designer Ilmari Tapiovaara and his wife Annikki won the commission to design the interior of the Domus Academica student housing complex in Helsinki. Confident that functionalism would promote social equality, Tapiovaara created the Domus Lounge Chair as part of a series of furniture for the students. Over time, the Domus Lounge Chair’s popularity has extended far beyond the location for which it was
