working holiday visa opportunity Byron shire
Hi,we are looking for the right person to join us in our developingsyntopic/ permaculture gardens near Byron Bay. Under the post-fireseason new rules, I can sign off your working holiday visa as specified below, for part-time volunteer work contributed to the property, as a commercial flower grower in a fire-affected zone.
Beautiful location on Coorabell escarpment with sea breezes, wildlife, lush gardens and only 5 minutes to Mullumbimby and 20 minutes to ByronBay.
A rustic, simple, small pop-top caravan for 1 person will soon be available. It is situated on the edge of the forest and food gardens. It has a bed, little lounge area and kitchenette. It suits someone who loves nature and is accustomed to camping or very simple bush living. Rainwater is on tap outside of the caravan. Think camping, and this set-up is a bit more accommodating. The shower and toilet are a 2-minute walk and accessed off the verandah at the house and will be shared with one other person. We have a compost dunny and solar bag shower which could be set up in your zone if you prefer amenities to be close. Off-site living also possible.
Work is varied and dependent on what skills and interests you can bring.Skills/ interests of benefit could be gardening, weeding, planting, landscaping, paving, concreting, building, carpentry, cleaning, painting, plumbing, trackwork, building chook pen, mowing, clearing and organising garage, website building.... architecture! :) Clearly you are not expected to bring all of these :) Just let me know what you can do. Right now I need help in the gardens. I am an accredited permaculture teacher and can teach as we go.
You will be part of a small, quiet community of happy, peaceful gardeners:) We are 4 adults, 2 children, 1 resident dog, and lots of amazing wildlife and plants. Its a good, healthy, cooperative and harmonious vibe and we look for someone who gels with that. We are fairly independent with plenty going on, on and of the land, so it will also help if you are fairly self-organising in your own time. Aside from working on the land, we occasionally share a meal or have a fire together.
No smokers, no drugs, no doof, no dramas, no pets (it is a wildlife refuge).
For the genuinely pioneering, there may be another work visa role to establish a camp in the private valley. There is a caravan there, and I have a compost dunny and water tank ready to be transported down and set up. This job would be for strong, resourceful, pioneering types only! You would need a 4wd. This work is in setting up camp, some rudimentary plumbing, weed control, and maybe some work as mentioned above also.
If you are interested please message me with something about you, your interests, skills and experience, where you have been travelling, living or working during covid, what you need and what you can offer.
