c1900's Antique Indonesian Javanese Kris (Keris) Dagger
I have for sale an antique Indonesian Javanese Kris (or Keris) dagger, estimated to be early 1900's. The kris dagger is known for its distinctive forged wavy blade pattern known as Pamor which is achieved by layering steel and nickel iron... The Kerdas style hilt shows an influence from the Bugis people of Sumatra, so this could well be the origin. The hilt and the sheath are assumed to be constructed out of local Kemuning wood. The sheath has a piece of carved bone at the tip for strength. Dagger measures 45.5cm long.
CONDITION - I have left both the dagger and sheath in original untouched condition. The blade being steel has light surface rust, which is easily removed if you wish. The wood is in overall nice condition with some expected light scratches here and there. The bone tip has two stress fractures which pose no threat as its stable and solid.
Please note: No collectors licence is required to own this item.
Pick up is from Geelong, Vic or I am happy to post Australia wide at buyers expense.
