Cedar Chiffonier Circa 1870
It was made in Sydney around 1870 & it is preserved in original, untouched condition. Before my ownership it resided at Paddington St. Woollahra. The terrace house was built circa 1865 & this chiffonier is believed to be amongst the original furniture.
Its unique character is represented by its honest, unmolested, original condition & over 100 years of sympathetic use. It shows distressing, splits, board seperation, bruising & scratching. The well cared for finish is exceptional - it has a warm & mellow colour & a most desirable patina.
The structure is sound with no movement. The serpentine drawer is in good condition & both doors open & close well. The lock is intact however the key is lost. The backboards are in perfect untouched condition & there is no evidence of rot or borer damage. The top section is secured by seven brass screws & it easily dismantles for transportation
It is 63 inches tall, 36 inches wide & 18 inches deep.
Please note that this chiffonier has not been sanded, cleaned, stripped, repolished or restored in any way - it is ORIGINAL.
Collection is available at Mount Victoria in the Blue Mountains of NSW near to Katoomba.
Careful, personal delivery is available for areas Bathurst to Sydney.
