Work exchange for accomodation in Mullumbimby bush setting
I live on a 3 acre share on an amazing 120 acre intentional community in Goonengerry- about 25 minutes from Bryon Bay, 15 mins from mullumbimby and 30 mins to lismore. We share the land with 6 other families in a beautiful valley, with prisitne creek, waterfall and nature abounding.
I live with my son part time, in my big beautiful Queenslander house, which I moved from lismore to the land in 2000. My partner lives near MT warning and he also Stays here and helps out often. I am both a counsellor and artist. I work regularly work in Arnhem land with Aboriginal women at Injalak ARts and crafts an aboriginal run arts centre in Oenpelli, where I facilitate screen printing workshops. You can see the arts centre on facebook and pictures of me working if you look under the women`s workshops and fabric printing photo albums. I also run women`s groups from my home and do relationship counselling and am passionate about making the world a better place, indigenous Australia, women`s work and raising children.
I am offering accomodation exchange for the right person or people who have the skills and capacity to help me finish my house and work on the land. I prefer a skilled builder or someone who knows how to weild a power tool and what they are doing. My house is big and needs lots of finishing off so I can get my final from council. There is building, plastering, tiling, cladding and heaps more as well as general maintenence, wippersnipping, house work, chicken help, landscaping etc.
I have a few accomodation options including a funky bus or bush caravan set up with outdoor deck Im open to possibilities and creating a win win situation with the right people.
You must be earthy and grounded and able to handle living in the bush. We are on the edge of the national park, so you are living right in amongst the nature.
You must also be mature, respectful , a good communicater, responsible and have a can-do attitude. I like to be clear and frank with communication so there are no preconceived expectations that I cant meet and as such I will tell you everything as best I can, so you can assess whether my place is right for you. I also need you to be straight up and honest with me as I am a sensitive person, and can always feel it, if someone is not happy. So being on the same page and honest is important to me.
I need someone who is grounded, practical and clear and willing to help. Prefer no airy fairy cosmic types or princesses! Also dont want any substance abusers or heavy smokers or loud doof players.
My preference is a couple who have some skills in building who have enthusisam for a project and vision. Prefer no kids as its a bit rough and ready and not so kid friendly.
Also, as our land is a wildlife reserve with plentiful native animals , absolutely NO CATS OR DOGS are allowed. You will also need a car most likely if you live here.
Wireless internet, phone & power available. Compost toilets and shared bathroom under my house for you to use, or youcan build your own.
If you are interested, please send me an email telling me all about yourself, with your phone number, what you are looking for and your details. If you sound suitable I will give you a call or email you back.
Cheers Jude & Sam.
