Would you like to spend the summer on Rottnest Island?

We need a Chef (or capable cook) to get us through to May whenour season dies down. You will be supported by our 2 Head Chefs and a small but very capable kitchen team

The position is a live on position on Rottnest Island so you will need to be in a position to relocate and accommodation is only suitable for singles (or a couple if you are both chefs/cooks!!)

The role will be very hands on cooking.

Requirements:

·Experience in a high quality a la carte, high volume environment

·A calm and easy temperament under pressure. Volatile chefs need not apply!

·Passionate about service standards and customer satisfaction

·Genuine interest in all aspects of the food and hospitality industry

·Exceptional work ethic, ability to work hospitality hours and multi task all aspects of the kitchen

·Of course, you will have above average culinary skills and deliver dishes with fantastic presentation and consistency

·References will show you are a dedicated team player who will treat the business as if it were your own

· Things You Need To Know

· We have 2 strong chefs already. We generally have a chef and cook on breakfast and 2 chefs and a kitchenhand on for dinner service. We often do in excess of 100 covers for breakfast and 150 for lunch and dinner so you will often need to run multiple sections by yourself and will need to be a very clean and organised chef. We cannot stress enough how much hands on cooking will be involved in this role so it would suit someone that just loves to put their head down and ‘smash out a good service’

· We actively promote a team effort and work very hard to maintain great front and back of house relations. In addition, it is a live on role in a small, sociable community so the right personality is essential. The job will suit an outdoorsy type who gets what Rottnest Island is all about and seeks to have a work life balance. Services are hard and fast but we close 2 nights per week and last orders are 8.30pmso you can also enjoy quality time to enjoy the Island

· We do as much inhouse as possible, sauces, dressings, cakes etc and have a very good reputation for food and service that we want to continually improve on. In addition, we run nightly blackboard specials so we are looking for a chef/cook that wishes to explore their creative side to deliver on exceptional food and presentation
