Ducati 998 RS Spec period Race Bike.
It is with such regret I am putting my 998 RS build up for sale, this has been a labour of love build over the past 6 years and never intended to sell bike and was my true forever bike, But as life changes and the arrival of our first child. The time has come to plan for the future!
The Bike started life as a 2002 998S and has been fully rebuilt using RS & Corse parts with a clear goal in mind to get a bike to perform like a modern machine and be competitive to race but remain analogue and raw but have maximum performance to the point before reliability is compromised.
The spec is as follows,
Ohlins 1098R front forks purchased new from Ducati and re-worked with SBK spec internals.
Ohlins Rear shock rebuilt to suit longer Swing arm and liner linkage set up,
Ohlins Race spec steering damper with Harris bracket.
IMA MOD4 triple clamps that has adjustable offset from 25mm to 36mm.
Harris performance Corse spec swing arm, what is a work of art in itself! 19mm longer and lighter than original with a re-engineered spec of flex. Harris supplied these swing arms for BSB non factory spec bikes back in the day due to the massive cost of the magnesium units. I opted for one of these over a magnesium unit due to magnesium derogates overtime and most will be like jelly these days. They are still make these to order and made by the same engineer almost 20 years on! This was purchased by me and is a brand new unit manufactured 2017 by Harris.
RS Billet Rocker linkage and RS rider height adjuster.
Billet RS rear brake adjuster bracket.
RS rear sub frame.
Full Titanium bolts used throughout the build.
Full race glass finished to a very high standard with custom livery.
The geometry and set up of the bikes suspension has been under taken by Byron Draper head of Ohlins Australia. He spent many years in the WSBK & MotoGP paddock as an Ohlins Technician and worked alongside most WSBK Riders back when the 998 was latest Ducati offering in the paddock. Full Ohlins suspension specs and settings for Australian tracks will come with the bike on a very trick USB from Ohlins.
Wheels & Brakes.
The lightest and best wheels you can buy and the true holy grail… Marchesini M10RS wheels. These are magnesium and less than half the weight of the standard 5 spoke Ducati wheels. Front wheel is fitted with a ceramic bearing and titanium RS front axle.
Tyres are Dunlop slicks and these are the control tyre used in FX Pro-twins and only seen one track day.
The front brakes are Brembo M4 monoblocks and were again purchased brand new from Ducati, these are fitted with the Brembo Racing Z04 - M497Z04 Compound Brake Pads! Yes the ($500) brake pads. The rear calliper is a billet Brembo unit and are matted to braided lines and Brembo master cylinder. Front & Rear Discs are Armstrong’s UK and are one of the best performance to weight ratio discs and are mounted with Titanium bolts.
MS Productions carbon crank case under seat breather with STM Reed Valve, MS Production SBK Spec Airducts, BMC air filters, Magnecor 8mm HT leads, Light weight battery, light weight wiring harness. RS flywheel, RS Magnesium eagle timing belt pullies, RS camshafts, gas flowed heads and larger valves, full 54MM Titanium Termingnoni exhaust system and all matched to a reworked 996R race ECU. R&G Engine protection, running a Ducati Corse 4 Spring Slipper clutch. Resulting in 140 RWHP.
I have a folder full of receipts documenting the build and history of the bike, and it will come with an Anderson rear paddock stand and tyre warmers and a matching custom Beta C41H toolbox full of spares.
As mentioned I have a 5 month old baby so my time is precious, so please no timewasters or stupid offers and genuine messages of interest if you want to purchase the bike. I am sure I have forgotten some of the spec and I will update the spec as I remember other parts of the build, happy to discuss the build in detail with potential buyers.
