Extremely Ornate French Silver Sugar Sifter made in Paris in 1838
An very ornate and finely designed French silver sugar sifter. One of the hallmarks on the back of the handle is a head which my Semour B. Wilder Book of Old Silver tells me is the 1st Standard Mark for Paris for 1838. The other hallmark set in a diamond shape shows a downwards facing crescent moon at the top followed underneath and in order vertically by a 5 point star, an A. then another 5 point star - this is the maker's mark - see photo.
