PARKER KNOLL - UTILITY - FIRESIDE CHAIRS - 1948 SCARCE
A pair of PARKER chairs that were part of the WWII ‘UTILITY’ programme. Please research about the situation in the UK 🇬🇧 in the 40’s .. Limited resources made for a reductionist approach in the UK ! They looked towards Scandinavia for design. This is one of their best . Took a good look at Alvar Aalto. These are all original with a great patina and original William Morris fabric that is ready for re-upholstery . Both chairs are structurally solid as a rock. Solid oak steam bent frames.
