FORD COURIER Used Car Review

Ford used its relationship with Mazda to rebadge a B-series ute as the Courier in the early 1970s, with the model reaching Australia in 1978. The two utes, while moving from Japanese to Thailand production, have been twinned ever since - including when the Courier became the Ford Ranger in 2007.

  • Drove relatively well on and off road
  • Spoilt-for-choice list of 20-odd variants
  • Big cabin and good headroom compared with rivals of time
  • V6 petrol's beefy performance and willing turbo diesel
  • Lack of rear legroom
  • V6 was best with auto rather than manual gearbox
  • Shortage of safety features

  • The Ford Ranger is a vastly better ute
