Violin made and signed by Hermann Dolling Jr (*****1923) c.1900 in Markneukirchen, Germany.
DOLLING, Hermann (II) born 1862 died 1923 Markneukirchen Germany. Son and pupil of Hermann Mortiz Dolling. Worked for Ludwig Glasel, then Ernst Liebich in Breslau, and lastly August Riechers in Berlin before returning to the family business in Markneukirchen, which in 1886 became the "Vogtlandische Musikinstrumenten-Fabrik".
Medals awarded at Zwickau 1906 and Berlin 1907. Early work in his own hand is generally imitative of various Italian masters, and of a high level of workmanship. The workmanship of this instrument is of the highest quality. Everything from the arching of the top plate, to the selection of maple on the back plate and the beautifully finished carving of the scroll.
* High quality maple back with fine flaming;
* Head and ribs of equal quality maple with fine flaming to match;
* Top is made of high quality spruce, with wide grain at the edges and fine grain
in the middle;
* Warm amber varnish;
* Pegs and chin rest: Acacia Puce and Neilia (purple heart).

Comes with case and later bow.
