Mitterteich was the first porcelain factory in the town of Mitterteich in Bavaria, Germany. It was established in 1887 by Ludwig Lindner but was taken over by a glass and porcelain retailer called Max Emanuel & Co. in 1895. At the start of World War I, the Bavarian authorities confiscated the factory from the British. After the war was over, Mitterteich's business began to pick up and it operated as Porzellanfabrik Mitterteich, staying relatively consistent through the rest of the 20th century. In a sudden move that shocked the town, Mitterteich filed for bankruptcy in 2005.
