Stunning Vintage Murano Two Colour Sommerso Free Form Bowl
Amber and Clear Glass.
This stunning vase is decorated with a technique called "Sommerso", which in Italian means "submerged". The technique is used to create several layers of glass (usually with different contrasting colours) inside a single object, giving the illusion of "immersed" colours that lay on top of each other without mixing clear glass and coloured glass. A beautiful example of a fine handmade glass dimpled vase.
Making a delightful ornamental display piece that is handmade, this eloquent design in its simplest form has created a stunning bowl. Wonderful to look at in its simple form, delightful use of colour and especially wonderful to hold in the hand at just over 1090g and smooth dimples. It has that something special appeal.
