Thorens TD150 MkII with Origin-Live/Rega tonearm
$1,600
SHIPPING OFFERED
1. Thorens belt-drive TD150Mk2 turntable, optimised for performance.
2. Brand new, modified Rega RB220 tonearm with structural Origin Live modification and new Rega RCA cable. This modification elevates the Rega tonearm into a veritable superstar as it eliminates resonant feedback to the cartridge. Note: Arm lift is incorporated into the tonearm.
3. Brand new Audio Technica VM95C cartridge (Upgrade to a nude square shank Microline “ML” diamond stylus for $200 – highly recommended. You won’t believe your ears!)
4. Oak tonearm board
5. New clear "liftoff style" acrylic dustcover fits over the entire turntable
6. New platter mat. This is the only platter mat that in my experience both eliminates static and couples the record to the platter effectively.
7. Upgraded power cord
8. Upgraded power supply (updated grounded schema and new X2 caps)
9. Suspension tuned and damped
10. Original plinth is in amazing “as new” condition, not often seen on these vintage Thorens.
The highly regarded Thorens TD150 Mk2 is one of the most compact high-end performance turntables you can own. Good ones are getting scarce nowadays as the younger end of the turntable market upgrade from breadboard designs such as Rega and Pro-Ject, and of course the myriad of direct drive turntables. (Yes, I’ve been down both roads myself!) Once they’ve heard the difference a well-engineered belt-drive suspension turntable can make, people are convinced.
I’m very fussy about which ones I choose to put my name to, so rest assured that this example is up to my exacting standards. (Measurements: 40x34x15 with cover) It has a full-size 2-piece heavy zinc platter and a precision bearing that is isolated from the rest of the turntable by way of the suspended sub-platter system. It's belt drive of course, so motor and footfall vibrations are isolated from the tonearm. Unlike direct drive systems, The TD150 design does not require any further isolation as the design is very efficient at isolating resonances from the cartridge. Just place it directly on a level table.
If you are not familiar with the Thorens TD150 Mk2, the internet has a ton of information.
Audition available. Pick up in Chisholm NSW, near Newcastle, or I can ship at your risk. Ask me for a quote. Insurance is highly recommended of course.

- Thorens TD150 , new plinth & Paratrace stylusThorens TD150 MkII This is a super special Thorens TD150 Mk2. I’ve had this turntable for a number of years awaiting restoration, and now it sees its second debut since the early 70s when it first came off the production line. From the UK, this example was originally installed into a console, so was not supplied with a plinth or tonearm. A super nice Thorens TP13A tonearm was sourced from Canada and it now sits on a brand new, hand-made, solid African Gaboon wooden tonearm board, that matches$1,500Berry Park, NSW•19w
