Mid century Danish style teak/blackwood extension table fully restored
$1,375
The Vinyl Frontier is Brisbane's longest running dedicated Mid-century design and decor shop, established in 2001 and operating for more than 20 years from 5/32 Petrie Terrace 4000. We specialise in European and Australian ceramics, glassware and furniture.
We currently have a variety of restored Dining chairs, tables and whole suites.
Featured here is an Australian mid-century blackwood and maple extension dining table by Kolter. Beautifully matched veneers running end to end through the extensions, an unusual thick edged top which hides the end extensions away inside and tapered cigar legs feature. Measuring 125 cm long , 90 wide and 75 tall, the unusually large 46 cm extensions give it a maximum length of 217 cm - a comfortable 8 seater. $1375.
The other photos feature a few more of our current vast stock, including:
A 1950s Scandinavian style 6 seater dining table in blackwood. Fully restored to bring out the magnificent grain pattern, this early piece of Australian made Danish style furniture features slender metal capped turned and tapered "cigar" legs and fixings in the Parker style but has no identifying marks. Measuring 167 cm long 91 wide and 77 tall. $1295.
A good sized 1960s blackbean round to oval butterfly extension table with turned and tapered "cigar" legs. Fully rebuilt and re-polished it measures 120 cm in diameter when closed, extending to 164 cm and is 73cm tall. $1100.
A set of six 1950s Brisbane made modernist Queensland Maple dining chairs fully rebuilt, re-polished and recovered. Originally purchased from Henry Roberts in the Valley, possibly manufactured by Bell Bros. Chairs are $300 each.
A stunning 1950s Queensland maple dining table with vibrant flame/tiger stripe top grain and splayed and tapered legs. Fully rebuilt and re-polished. Measuring 155 cm long 94 wide and an unusually tall 78 cm. $1295 matching the above chairs.
a set of six 1950s Tasmanian oak dining chairs, probably by T.H. Brown. We've had and have other almost identical sets with THB stamps. While these are unmarked (apart from very faint Australian Furniture Standard ink marks) they feature some of the most attractively figured Tassie oak I've ever seen. It really looks like oak. They're rebuilt, re-polished and recovered in commercial quality grey upholstery fabric. $350 per chair ($2100 for the set).
A set of four late 40s/ early 50s spindle back dining chairs in European or American oak. I initially assumed these were Australian because the table they came with obviously is, but the timber indicates an overseas origin with the table maybe having been made locally to match. Beautifully made with styling similar to Fritz Hansen pieces of the era. $375 each.
A set of four 1960s blackwood dining chairs in the style of Nils Jonsson's Garmi chairs for Troeds, Sweden usually attributed to T.H. Brown.
We've had sets of Garmi chairs in the past, and personally I think these are prettier with turned dish topped front legs and inset seat panels. The attribution to T.H. Brown seems speculative and the jointing of the backs and the shaping of the legs seems more akin to the work of Danish Deluxe or Moderntone, but a high quality chair for sure.
Recovered in full hide leather, stripped and re-polished. $350 per chair ($1400 for the set)
Opening hours are 10:30am till 4pm Tuesday to Saturday or other times by arrangement. On street parking available on Petrie Terrace during all of our opening hours.
