Antique items from the 1940s and 1950s variable prices
$50
Wash board from the 1940's; wooden frame, thick corrugated glass - no chips or cracks. One corner of the wooden frame is slightly rotted, but the washboard is still very useable. My mother used it to do her washing in the 1940's and up to 1958. $60 to $70
Dinner set from the 1940's, yellow with floral pattern around the edge. Settings for six people, no pieces missing, no chips. 6 dinner plates, 6 bread and butter plates, 6 medium sized plates, 6 bowls, 6 cups and saucers. One saucer is currently in use under a pot plant, but can be cleaned up before sale. Made by Wade Heath in England. A bargain at $50 for the set.
Old fashioned ceramic electric jugs from the 1950's. The larger one has no element and therefore $40 (negotiable). The smaller one is in good working order including the element. $50. There is one power cord between the two jugs. Everything works. I am keeping a similar medium sized jug and I have a spare element for it: it may now be difficult to obtain new elements. If you really want the element for the larger jug, I will charge $60 for that because I don't really want to part with it. These jugs don't turn off automatically when the water boils - you have to listen and turn it off yourself, otherwise the element breaks. I opened the smaller jug and tried to take a picture of the element, but it doesn't show up very well.
Pedigree doll from the 1950's -she was my birthday present when I turned 4. She is not in good condition. Good quality pedigree dolls sell for $200 to $300. I will sell for $40 due to the defects. The sound mechanism in her back does not work, so she can no longer say "Mama", her eyelashes have gone, she has no clothes other than ill-fitting underpants (I couldn't put her on the internet without pants!). Her legs and arms still move and her eyes open and close. Her long hair is a little bit matted, but you can get some special conditioner for wigs and comb it through, with a wide-toothed comb.
I am not sure how much I can charge for these items and will not sell to the first person to show interest - I would like suggestions as to cost. I don't really want to part with these items I have had for more than 60 years, but I plan to move into a retirement village near the end of 2024, and am starting to clear out some of my stuff.
