MGA Mk1, MK11 1600 & 1500 Australian CHASSIS/ID PLATE

Authentic Australian MGA MK1, MK11 1600 and 1500 chassis /ID plate.
The plate is suitable for nearly all australian MGA’s not just 1600MkII’s.
It is the same id chassis plate for Australian MGA 1500, MGA 1600 MkI and the first 50% of 1600MkII’s.
If you want to maintain your originality for your Australian MGA then this chassis/ ID plate will provide you with confidence that this is as close to original as is possible.
There were only 148 Australian MGA MkII 1600's in total and the Australian build numbers started with 501. For the MGA MkII 1600's there were 2 different size/styles of Chassis/ID plates. If yours is missing you can determine which sort was fitted through checking the ID plate attachment holes on the horizontal part of firewall just to the passenger side of where the MGA Australian ID number is stamped. As a guide only, this plate from hole centre to centre is roughly 2 and 1/16” x 3 and 5/8”.
Achieving perfection is not easy: A great deal of effort has gone into the reproduction of this limited numbers chassis/ID plate. This authentic reproduction results from finding the right people with the skills to recreate the original font from scratch as 60 years on this font no longer exists. To achieve the correct original spacings, layout detail and tinplate colour and then finding the right people to correctly manufacture the plate has taken a number of years and created great expense.
A great deal of thanks must go to several Australian MGA experts who have contributed to this project to assure the chassis ID plate details are correct. Much appreciated.
Why have I gone through this total madness of creating the MGA Id plate? Its simple, none existed that were correct or were available. I also wanted to restore our car to the highest possible standards for originality and presentation.
