Myers Manx Manxter Beach Buggy
$49,999 Negotiable
Seller's Description
Reluctantly for sale is my beautiful Meyers Manx Manxter.
Built with a Meyers Manx Australia “Manxter” body kit with the pre-engineered six-point occupant protection system, powder coated in Saturn black. Built on a 1968 IRS Beetle. First registered as a rebodied VW Beetle “Convertible” in November 2020 and travelled just over 6000 kms.
This vehicle has been fully engineered and is currently registered the ACT. A second roadworthy inspection was undertaken in August 2023 to add the rear disk brakes to its list of approved modifications. This car is registerable anywhere in Australia.
Chassis
Built on a fully restored Type 1 early 1968 IRS chassis, Model 114 that features ball joint, front disk brake, torsion bar front end with CV joint rear.
Floor pans were replaced, chassis stripped, primed and epoxy painted before the build began.
New steering box: tire rod ends and steering damper.
New disks, calipers, wheel bearings and flexible hoses all around. Rear disk brakes and master cylinder were engineered in August 2023. New CV joints.
Motor
The 1968cc motor has 92mm bore and 74mm stroke.
CB Performance H beam connecting rods with VW journals.
The camshaft is 37/68 providing low end torque at 3,500 RPM.
EMPI GTV 2 heads with 40mm intake and 35.5mm exhaust valves. Has 8:9:1 compression ratio. I:1.2 high lift rockers and chrome molly push rods with alloy valve covers.
Exhaust is a Tri-Mil competition Bobtail.
36mm Weber carburettors, jetted and tuned on a dyno.
Wheels
For registration purposes it comes with a set of four polished 15x5.5” alloy wheels. It also has two 15x8” matching rear wheel with as new tyres on them.
Why am I selling it?
This is a great car that runs and handles well. I am selling it because:
- It is not the ideal car for Canberra, it is either too cold, too hot, too wet or too windy;
- I am too old to be climbing in and out of it with my prosthetic leg; and
- The manual transmission is challenging to use with my prosthetic leg so I want and automatic hobby car.
Offers considered prior to inspection. Inspection by appointment.
