JOHNSON BROS WILLOW TABLEWARE CUP & SAUCERS - Set 4
$60
I have four (4) lots of the famous Johnson Bros. Willow pattern tableware or dinner crockery sets that I am putting up for sale. These will be in 4 separate advertisements on this site.
Founded by Frederick and Alfred Johnson in 1883, the brothers were actually the grandsons of renowned English potter, Alfred Meakin, which no doubt helped to stir up interest in their new pottery venture.
In the 1950’s Johnson Bros. earned Royal Warrants from Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mother for award-winning high-quality designs that had become widely popular.
In 1968, Johnson Bros. became a partner with the rapidly developing Wedgwood Group. With this partnership, came some of the most popular patterns to be produced in the succeeding years.
In the early 2000’s, there was a temporary move and transfer of their tableware division to J & G Meakin (part of the Waterford Wedgwood Group) at the Eagle Pottery Works in England.
But in 2003 production in the UK of Johnson Bros. ceased altogether as manufacturing moved to China. The end of an era.
The Eagle Pottery Works was demolished in 2005 and in 2015, following the acquisition of Waterford Wedgwood by Finnish company Fiskars, the Johnson Bros. brand was discontinued.
This is a set of 6 cups & saucers. There are no cracks or chips in any of the pieces and they are in excellent USED condition.
I have supplied photos to show the back/under-side of sample pieces to validate the pieces are all the same generation of Willow from Johnson Bros.
Both the cups and saucers are all made in England. Hence they will be pre-2003 vintage as this is when manufacturing was transferred to China.
The Willow pattern is an identical match to the other three sets of Willow pattern tableware from Johnson Bros. that I have listed on this site.
The price is for the set of 6 cups and 6 saucers.
Check out the other Johnson Bros. Willow pattern crockery pieces I have on this site.
This set can be collected from an address in Indooroopilly/Chapel Hill, just off Moggill Road.
