Extremely rare copy of the December 1969 edition of 19 magazine, the iconic British monthly launched in March 1968 which was aimed mainly at teens and early twenties. The Pre-Raphaelite style cover photo is by Stephen Bobroff and other photographers in this issue are Justin De Villeneuve, Stuart Brown and Christopher Hopper. The magazine is a nostalgic time capsule of that crossover period at the end of the Sixties and start of the Seventies.
The contents include an exclusive interview with Twiggy who talks about her personal fashion and life style and her plans to make a film with Ken Russell and models her new Twiggy Dresses range in photos by Justin De Villeneuve. Fashion spreads include 8 pages of Christmas party clothes in 'stained glass colours' including designs by Ossie Clarke, Biba, Janice Wainwright and Mr Freedom all worn with Anello & Davide and Sacha boots and 4 pages of the famous Mr Freedom cartoon message T shirts. The beauty pages have pre-raphaelite inspired party make up looks with detailed how to instructions and ideas for beauty gifts. There's a look at the newly opened Biba shop in Kensington High Street with photos of clothes and accessories and contemporary reviews of the films 'Women In Love', 'True Grit', and 'The Damned' and in music The Beatles 'Abbey Road', Rolling Stones 'Through the Past Darkly' and 'Johnny Cash at San Quentin' LP's. Plus great late 60s graphics and ads including Deltress wigs, Outdoor Girl make up, Eylure false lashes, Aristoc and Pretty Polly tights and a classic Aqua Manda one.
The 98 page magazine is complete and intact with no annotations. It has general age wear including some paper browning on inside page edges. Please examine all the photos carefully and contact me if you have any questions. Pick up from Kensington NSW 2033 in Sydney Eastern Suburbs.
