$25
Costus Barbatus also known as spiral ginger, is a perennial plant with a red inflorescence. The foliage of Costus barbatus is dark green and fuzzy underneath. The long red inflorescences are complemented with bright yellow tubular flowers. Clumps spread easily and produce plants that can grow to six feet tall.
Cultivated for its brightly coloured terminal flowerheads that are made of up bracts to make a cone formation with the yellow tubulate flowers emerging between the bracts.
These plants also have wonderful foliage and the clumps spread easily.
They require humus rich, moist, but well drained soils.
During Autumn and winter they do not require much water so apply sparingly.
