Cedar Wardrobe Circa 1865 - Original condition

A magnificent example of Australian colonial furniture. The architecture is impressive.
It is of substantial proportions & presents in original, unmodified condition.
It is made of select, well figured Cedar. The finish shows a mellow patina & it has accumulated a deep polish over it's 150 year life. It has not been stripped, repolished or refinished in any way.
The structure is perfectly rigid, without movement, evidence of rot, borer or modification. Every screw & rose head nail is present. The side panels are single boards & there are no splits or separation of joints anywhere. There are no spliced repairs at the hinges or joints & the doors are both perfectly balanced & operate smoothly on their original brass hinges without droop. The drawer operates without drag on the original runners.
The backboards are original & undamaged.
The original filigree brass coathooks have recently been sympathetically cleaned of verdigree & present well.
The two brass framed locks (stamped Crown VR) operate perfectly & the original iron bow key is present.
The two turned cedar knob handles are original.
Dimensions are strictly traditional of the period at - 84 inches tall, 54 inches wide & 24 inches deep.
It dismantles into 3 sections & will manoeuvre into the tightest terrace house.
