A rare & original cased set of game fish servers dated 1901. Both server & fork are solid sterling silver - no silver plate or tool steel.
Each piece is hallmarked Sheffield 1901 & bears the makers stamp of "SB" (Stainton Bros) to the ferrule.
Handles are the finest, genuine "White Bone" & are substantial. Each piece is moulded to fit the hand.
Both server & fork are of a trowel form as influenced by the 18th Century British Admiralty tradition & the then Masonic movement. A subtle fish profile is evident in the server.
The quality of manufacure is of the finest possible calibre. Blades of the server & fork are thick, solid sterling silver. They both have a heavy, balanced feel.
The set is of substantial size & weight. The server wieghs 190 grams & the fork 165 grams. The fitted case is original & measures 14 inches by 5 inches. The royal blue velvet lining is undamaged. The server measures 13 inches & the fork 10 inches.
Both case & cutlery present in PRISTINE original condition. They clearly have seen little use.
This set is an example of the finest English sterling silver craftsmanship & would satisfy the most discerning collector.
