Caledonian Yawl Trailer Sailor
$19,900 Negotiable
LOA - 19' 6" (5.9436 m) Beam - 6' 4-1/2" (1.81 m) Weight - 450 lbs (205 kg)
My Son and I are selling our beloved Caledonian Yawl trailer-sailor, “Erin”. She was completed in 1997 and we have many great memories of our adventures sailing her in and around Tasmanian waters. She is a great boat to sail with family and friends and displays lovely lines and beautiful craftmanship that never fails to attract admirers.
Erin is in excellent condition, having recently received new paint and varnish inside and out. All of her standing and running rigging, including sails are in good working order. She also comes with a CQR Plow anchor, and ample anchor chain and rope. Her trailer has recently been rebuilt and is fitted with LED lighting and new tyres.
She is planked with 10mm and 12mm marine ply, featuring many Tasmanian speciality timbers. Her bottom strakes are fiberglass sheathed, and coated with copper bottom epoxy. Her stem and stern are Tasmanian Myrtle, her internal keel is made of Celery Top Pine and her external keel is made from Tasmanian Oak. Both Keel and stems and sheathed with 2 mil brass plate; the thwarts are King Billy Pine, and floors are Huon Pine planks. Her rudder is made of King Billy Pine and her centre board is made of Tasmanian Oak. Her 6 spars are made of beautiful recycled straight grain Oregon timber. All of “Erin’s” bright work has been finished with 16 coats of Interlux Schooner Varnish. She also features lovely silicon bronze fittings, such as custom-made pintel and gudgeons, stern chocks, bow fairleads, chain plates and a lovely vintage mast ring.
“Erin” includes a recently re-built vintage ‘3-horse’ British Seagull motor (small enough that a motorboat licence is not needed). The motor fits snugly into her motor-well and supplies good auxiliary power. Fitted into the hull are fore and aft buoyancy chambers, constructed of 10 mil marine ply. “Erin” has always been stored in a garage and has been meticulously maintained
She has appeared at many Tasmanian Wooden Boat Shows, and during the 2011 Wooden Boat Show, her designer, Iain Oughtred sailed her and offered many compliments as to both her handling and construction. “Erin’s” complete building plans are also included. She is ready and waiting to sail again, as nothing need be done!
She is currently stored in Launceston, so if you are interested, please don’t hesitate to contact us to arrange a viewing, or ask any questions.
