Eugenia's mini bio
I was born in Athens . From a young age I expressed my interest in music and in piano particularly. I started piano lessons at the age of eight. Very soon I realized that music was what I wanted as a profession. I took my first piano degree at 2002 at the age of 19 with the grade "Excellent" and my diploma two years after at 2004 with the same grade, at the "Hellenic Conservatory", and I gave two personal recitals by that time as a pianist, playing Bach, Chopin, Beethoven, Debussy and Liszt.
In parallel with my piano studies I studied music theory, taking degrees in "Harmony" at 2000, "Counterpoint" at 2002 and "Fugue" at 2004, all with excellent degrees as well, at the "National Conservatory of Athens".
I started teaching music piano and theory very early, still as a student at the conservatory, at 2000 at the age of eighteen.
At this age I started also taking classical singing lessons, and exploring my love for singing. Soon I participated as a singer to the vocal group "Eklipsis", where I stayed for four years singing as Soprano in pop, jazz, musical repertoire, and participating in concerts in big theaters and music halls in Athens and all over Greece, including a concert at the Paralympic Games of Athens in 2004. Soon I started lessons in more contemporary styles, pop, jazz and musical.
When I completed my music studies, and while teaching piano and music theory , I decided to do studies in drama. I joined the drama school "Central Stage" at 2004 from where I graduated four years after at 2008.
While studying there I participated as a singer in a lot of concerts, with pop, musical and Jazz repertoire, and cooperated with a lot of good Greek musicians. I also took place at two musical theatre plays the historical "Greece - Persia 2500 years after ", that was presented at the ancient theatre of Delfi the summer of 2010, and " The journey", presented at the theatre "studio Kpselis" the winter of******2011.
From 2008 I became a regular teacher of piano , music theory , and contemporary singing at the Conservatory "Razi" in Athens. I teached almost all ages and levels and I am very proud to see a lot of my students progressing in music and some even have their first degrees in harmony and counterpoint with me as a teacher. I was also teaching music history, music form analysis, and I organized the choir of the conservatory, presenting my work in several concerts.
My teaching methods in piano, concludes popular books for beginners such as "Alfred's" method, continues with Czerny, Berens, Bach. My first goal especially at young beginners is to inspire the love for music. I give a lot of attention on creating a good technique foundation from the very beginning, but I strongly believe that love for music is the most important start. I also provide the opportunity to relax and have fun while learning, through jazz and pop methods. As for music theory and harmony, I try to teach it in the easiest way I can. My experience has proved to me that teaching this subjects in a practical way, can make this traditionally difficult and sometimes even boring lessons for the kids, easy and exiting. Anyway in music everything is practical! Last but not least contemporary singing lesson is fun and exciting! I I'm based on the foundations of classical singing techniques, and theatrical presentation, the lesson is an fascinating journey from the Beatles and Andrew Lloyd Weber, to Curt Veil, Janis Joplin and even... Lady Gaga. And of course, with respect on the needs and wants of every student particularly.
At 2014 I moved to Sydney, as I got married here, and I continue my music teaching career, with private lessons in piano, music theory, and contemporary vocal, in the warmth and welcoming atmosphere of my new house in North Ryde.
