Late 1940s, early 1950s solid wood wardrobe
$20
Solid wood wardrobe from 1940s - 50s.
Seems to be varnished maple/ Australian hardwood timber. Nice Art Deco-style chrome/nickel handles, but otherwise the style of robe is quite plain, suiting vintage, retro and modern interiors.
2 doors, with a narrow central spacer piece (about 300mm wide) and all hanging space inside, no shelves or drawers
Stands about 1900mm tall x 1300mm wide x 600mm deep (all measurements need confirming)
Most of it is in excellent overall condition. HOWEVER, one end's plywood has TERMITE damage that we discovered when we moved it around. (The plywood is easy to replace)
The bottom plinth (decorative) has totally come away from the carcass/frame, so needs re-gluing and nailing back. (This plinth came off about 10 years ago, before robe being stored in the shed)
It is still sitting on its side in the shed... Will need a fix-up then a good clean (dusty/cobwebs) if you intend putting in a carpeted house!
Due to the wardrobe's heaviness, we were intending installing rollers on the underside to assist in moving it when necessary (eg cleaning floor, rearranging room furniture etc) but have never got around to that! Maybe you should consider that as an option, too.
Photos show the colour of the timber, and the door handle style
Will need 2 people and a large-tray Ute, 6 x 4 trailer or larger trailer to transport. Excellent access for car with trailer attached
$20 for it - we need to empty the shed
Pick up Rainbow area (far NW Vic)
