‘South of the Sun: Australian fairy tales for the 21st century’ (2021) is an enchanting illustrated book of fairy tales - but not for children! These are for grown-ups. Often dark, the stories visit places where things don’t end happily ever after, where a single decision can haunt you forever. There are also tales to make you laugh, with sweet revenge or delight in the world of fey magic. Nearly sold out! Australian Fairy Tale Society is considering a reprint. All the stories, lyrics and poems have something in common, a contemporary edge. Even those set in earlier times have a modern sensibility that reflects our century and celebrates Australian landscapes, characters or voices, in all their diversity, from the Gurindji people of Kalkaringi, to Vietnamese refugees and Iranian-Sufi rug designers. This YA/adult collection challenges stereotypes and opens new vistas. We’ve attracted a stellar cast of authors, including major awardees. There are over 50 contributions, including my own tale and song lyrics. In full disclosure, I’m also one of the editors. Why buy from a publisher or bookstore, when you can pluck this from me with free postage? This entry will continue beaming while stocks last. We’ve transcended generations, genders and genres, and asked: what can an Australian fairy tale be? So if you’re ready - once upon a time …

- The Art of Dragon Age Inquisition, preloved hardcover book‘The Art of Dragon Age Inquisition’ celebrates an immersive roleplaying fantasy of epic scale, so to speak. This magnificent hardcover book created by Bioware, published in 2014, is in very good condition, brimming with never-before-seen art. There are slight crinkles at the corners. My favourite aspect of this tome is the spacious underworld, with its mossy rocks, tangled roots and grandeur, far more subtle than the more cartoonish style of some game illustrations.
