Grafted Champion Quince Fruit Tree
Pick up from Tewantin, Sunshine Coast, QLD.
I have grafted Champion Quince tree for sale as shown in the photo with a ruler.
The fruit
Champion is a quince variety originally from the USA. It’s a productive small tree that is self-fertile and will fruit on the Sunshine Coast QLD, with excellent quality quince fruit. Best to bag the fruit to protect it from wildlife as it ripens. Fresh quince fruit are a bit astringent and are best used in cooking. Stew the fruit up with some sugar and use it in desserts. Quince pies taste a bit like apple pie fragrant and rich, and are very nice.
Tree Care:
Quince trees are hardly little plants with healthy roots that tolerate a variety of soil types, but its best to amend your soil with some fresh compost and fertilizer prior to planting. These trees can be maintained to around 1.5m to 2 meters with pruning. It could grow to about 4 meters if unpruned. The tree is ready to plant straight out. Be sure to provide daily water for the first few months as it establishes. Fertilize regularly for the best growth and fruit production will typically take about 2-3 years. Fruit in the first year should be removed to help the tree establish faster.
