RAASC Service Dress Uniform Jacket and Badges
Negotiable
SHIPPING OFFERED
Hi I have a RAASC Service Dress Uniform Jacket, Badges, Buttons and belt.
Jacket has hole in sleeve and is very dusty as shown in the photo.
Badges, buttons and belt buckle have no damage.
The belt and brass buckle is included.
They have been in storage and may have scuff marks.
The badges are -
2 x Australian Commonwealth Military Forces Lapel Badges
The third pattern - May 1904
The third pattern Rising Sun badge carried a scroll inscribed with the words Australian Commonwealth Military Forces and was worn throughout both World Wars. A special version was struck for the coronation of King Edward VII in 1902. There were also badges of the Commonwealth Horse and the Australian Instructional Corps.
The distinctive shape of the Rising Sun badge, also worn on the upturned side of a slouch hat, is commonly identified with the spirit of Anzac. Proudly worn by soldiers of the 1st and 2nd Australian Imperial Force in both World Wars, the 'Rising Sun' badge has become an integral part of the digger tradition.
The badge was originally called the General Service Badge, but is now officially labelled the Australian Army Badge. It will, however, always be referred to as the Rising Sun Badge.
There are seven patterns of the Rising Sun. The Rising Sun has evolved over time and today Australian Army soldiers wear the seventh pattern.

4 x RAASC BUTTONS LARGE Royal Australian Army Service Corps
Worn on the Service Dress uniform jacket.

In 1948, the Royal prefix was bestowed upon the corps.
The corps served in World War I, World War II, as part of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force in Japan, Korean War, Malayan Emergency and the Vietnam War.
The RAASC was disbanded on 31 May 1973.
The history of the Royal Australian Army Service Corps began in Australia in 1886 when Victoria raised an Ordinance and the Commissariat and Transport Corps of Victoria was formed.
This Corps was made up of militia and continued until 1889 when the ordnance functions of the corps were dropped and it was redesignated as the Commissariat and Transport Corps of Victoria.
