Frederick Alfred Martin (December 9, 1906 – September 30, 1983)[1] was an American bandleader and tenor saxophonist. Swing-era bandleader Freddy Martin was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 6, 1909; a one-time drummer and C-melody saxophonist, his primary instrument was the tenor sax, for which Martin was nicknamed "Mr. Silvertone". The popularity of the Martin Orchestra ultimately led them to Hollywood, and during the early '40s, they appeared in a series of films.
