Mr Rabbit and the Lovely Present by Charlotte Zolotow printed 1982
PAPERBACK EXCELLENT CONDITION $20
(Minimal wear and tear on the cover,
pages like new)
A little girl discusses with Mr Rabbit the problem of what to give her mother as a birthday present. They decide to find her something in all her favourite colours and wander through the countryside assessing what can be given as a gift and what cannot - so a yellow banana is chosen rather then the yellow sun. After a long day of hunting the little girl finally has the perfect present. This is a beautifully illustrated, lyrical tale with plenty of repetition. The text imprints itself on children's minds once they have heard it read aloud and the dialogue offers the possibility of sharing the reading by taking either the part of Mr Rabbit or the little girl.
The Tiger Skin Rug by Gerald Rose printed 1981 PAPERBACK EXCELLENT CONDITION $20
(Contacted copy, minimal creasing, minor discolouration on the cover page)
It's amazing how easy it is for the tiger to pass himself off as a rug - he enjoys a life of luxury with the Rajah's family, snacking on midnight feasts and playing with his children. He goes entirely undetected, until one night, when he risks expulsion from his comfortable abode as burglars break into the palace and he has to decide whether to stay in disguise as a rug - or save the Rajah from a horrible beating.
However, tigers who live in houses can have happy endings, as seen in this perfect picture book.
