1964 Silvertone by Danelectro amp-in-case model 1448
$1,850
SHIPPING OFFERED
This is a piece guitar vintage history! Legends of guitar started on Danelectro guitars, just like these (Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix etc), and they are still heard throughout the music World today.
Silvertone amp-in-case guitars, made by Danelectro, and sold through the Sears catalog. They made five different models, between the years 1963 to 1967, and I have all of them. Probably the only collection of its type in Australia!? However, here is your chance to own one of them. Three of them are up for sale.
The guitar comes with Schaller locking strap pins, but the original strap pins are still in the set. It comes with a new, period-correct leather strap made by Levy and has been restrung with D’addario 10-46 strings.
For a set of guitars that are over 55 years old, they are in remarkably good condition, and are a vintage collector’s dream (in my humble opinion).
The guitar has minimal fret wear, and everything works as it should, but please expect a crackle or two from the pots and switches/footswitches. The frets have been polished, and I always conditioned the fretboards with ‘bore oil’ that is used to condition woodwind instruments.
1964 model 1448:
- In overall very good condition.
- A valve just popped while I was testing all the gear, so it has a replacement aftermarket valve (the original valve will be kept with the set).
1967 model 1452:
- Excellent condition.
1965 model 1457:
- Excellent condition … worthy of being on stage with Mick Jagger or Melissa Etheridge.
If you are checking out this remarkable set, then you would be aware of the notoriety of these guitars, and their unbelievable sound from those ‘lipstick’ pickups. So, I shouldn’t need to sing the praises of these guitars.
All of the amps have been recently serviced and made safe with proper 3-prong USA electrical cords … they now sound better than original, after dead caps etc were replaced and properly biased (unlike the factory specs that were all hit-and-miss).
You will need a small transformer to play the amp in Australia, as they work on USA voltage.
Let me know if you’re interested in more than one of them.
Shipping: between $125 and $140 in Australia (each).
These are definitely NOT “Gumtree bargains”, so please, no trades, swaps or low-ball offers!!
