c.1980s CHRISTIAN YOUTH CRUSADERS (CYC) HERALDS MEMORABILIA
$10
SHIPPING OFFERED
The CYC - Christian Youth Crusaders was a Christian Youth organisation founded in North America by the Free Methodist Church c.1939. Its motto was based on Luke 2:52:
‘Increase in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and Man’.
Open to boys and girls, the CYC appears to have been created along the lines of most religious youth groups of the time, similar to scouting programs with a nod to the specific faith. Uniforms, earned emblems and fond memories are common. Like other youth programs - the CYC evolved out of youth programs in place that had been studied and modified. The weekly meetings focussed on the spiritual side and the club aspect of the CYC - earning emblems, games, learning first aid, etc.
These items were worn by CYC Herald members c.1980s:
• Two light blue CYC neckerchiefs each with different ‘Herald’ patch badges;
• Red shoulder sash; and
• Blue ‘Í’m a Herald’ pin back badge featuring the characteristic CYC logo,
Pick up from Forest Lake or postage extra. Standard Postage will cost $2.50.
