A scarce example of a Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps collar badge worn by members of the Corps on the right-hand collar of Service Dress and Mess Dress during the 1953 - 1960 period.
The Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps [RAAOC] is the Corps within the Australian Army concerned with supply and administration, as well as the demolition and disposal of explosives and salvage of battle-damaged equipment. The Corps contains clerks, operator supplies (including Q-store staff, warehouse staff and food technicians), petroleum operators, parachute riggers and ammunition technicians. Members of the Corps are nicknamed ‘Cockroaches’.
This bi-metal badge is 32 mm high and manufactured with two secure and intact lugs mounted north-south present on the reverse. The maker’s mark ‘K.G.LUKE MELB’ is embossed on the reverse. Now a scarce and very collectable badge. The badge is approximately 60 years old and in good used condition, ready to join a collection of Australian Army Badges.
