UK Vanity Fair Feb 1963 Jun 1966 Patti Boyd Swinging 60s Fashion & Ads
$60
2 very rare British Vanity Fair magazines from February 1963 and June 1966. They have age related wear and tear but the contents are a fantastic reflection of the Swinging Sixties with fab 1960s photography, graphics and layouts and great adverts. They are perfect source material for styling, research, reference and collage
February 1963 has a Murray Irving at John French cover photo of a blonde model in a Linzi blue and white check suit and blue waistcoat and Revlon Blasé Apricot lipstick. There's a spring coats fashion spread with John French photos and a very early modelling appearance by Pattie Boyd and other spreads include dresses for mothers-to-be and new shoe styles. The covers are worn, the front has a big price sticker and there is paper browning on the inside pages. It was originally a 70 page issue but 2 complete pages are missing.
June 1966 has an Alec Murray cover photo of a model in a red and white check suit by Nina Ricci and big white sunglasses. The contents include a Get Up to Date feature showing Pattie Boyd as she looked in 1963 compared to now in 1966 when she had just married George Harrison of The Beatles after meeting him on the set of 'A Hard Day's Night'. One fashion spread includes a suit by Ossie Clark from his RCA fashion degree graduation show in 1965 which launched his career as a designer and others include evening dresses photographed at London Zoo and tennis dresses.
This issue has the famous double page launch ad for Mary Quant’s new make up line featuring '22 top models' including Grace Coddington, Tania Mallet, Celia Hammond and Peggy Moffitt. Other great full page ads include Chanel No 22 perfume, Dior lipstick & nail enamel, Yardley eye make up, Helena Rubinstein, Estee Lauder and the pop singer Leapy Lee with actress Una Stubbs in one for Terylene fabric. This is a complete 94 page issue with a worn and part detached front cover with brown tape marks, a piece torn off the back cover and paper browning on the inside pages.
Please examine all the photos carefully and contact me if you have any questions. Pick up from Kensington NSW 2033 in Sydney Eastern Suburbs.
