This 50s box from the Sovereign Woodworkers in Whanganui, Aotearoa/NZ, is looking good with only very light scuffing on the lid and base. The timbers used are displayed on the lid's underside. Around 12 cm in diameter, this is lovely to look at and to handle. The red-felt lining has degraded over time. This is a vintage treasure from an iconic Kiwi enterprise. It wasn't all grey behind the iron curtain. This fifties set, presented like a cup and saucer in vivid cobalt blue, comes from the Echt Kobalt company in Bavaria. There's a fair loss of the gold trim but there's not a crack or chip and there's a smooth, consistent lustre on this lovely East German showpiece.
