The Weeda factory was founded by Cornelius (Kees) and Suzanna Weeda at Ulverstone in 1951. Both Cornelius (who trained as a blacksmith) and Suzanna were active members of the Dutch Resistance during WW2, with Cornelius eventually being sent to Dachau Concentration Camp. The design features two stylised dragons, set among Buddhistic clouds and chasing a flaming pearl of wisdom.
