Silver plated (EPNS) vintage ashtray. Interest created by bubbles and one defect in removable glass insert; starburst pattern. Lovely scalloped edges lends a softer, nostalgic impression. Trademark SMPC, grade A1. Possibly from Watson’s Bay area business around 1940 to 1960. Internet search (https://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23703; blog by “Dognose”) says SMPC likely stands for Sydney metal plating company, A1 indicates first quality. Good entry level collectors item.
