I bought this monitor for writing. The screen swivels to portrait position which enabled me to view a whole page without the need to scroll. The monitor comes with 4 USB ports (probably USB 1.0). Two on the side and two ports underneath. Recommended mode is 1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz. It has a 17" (43.2cm) screen. I haven't used it for a long time so it would be best to test on your own system.
