This is a decorative ceramic butter dish, manufactured in Staffordshire, England, by Swinnertons. The dish is ivory in colour, decorated with two pink roses and a gilded rim. It measures approximately 11.2 cm in diameter. It is used but is still in excellent condition with a crackled surface but no chips.

A collection of small saucers or small dishes. Some in good condition, some in fair condition. In 1885 Bertram John Swinnerton began a factoring business at the Burton Place Works in Burton Place, Stoke-on-Trent. In 1906 he and Walter Lindley bought the Vulcan Pottery works in Slippery Lane, Broad Street, Hanley from Cartlidge & Matthais. Sadly in 1913 Bertram died by suicide. Alcock becoming chairman.
