Technics ruled the turntable market in the 1970s, and the good looking SL-23 was their top offering in belt drive technology, featuring a timber plinth, FG servo control of a DC motor (which also enabled them to add pitch controls), a very solid platter and a high quality S shaped tone arm fitted with a Technics cartridge that can accept both standard and elliptical styli. (A new standard stylus has been fitted as part of the refurb.) A stroboscopic pattern around the edge of the platter helps
