Overview of the Ford Transit
The Transit is a legendary commercial-vehicle nameplate, having transported goods and tradespeople since the 1960s.
Ford introduced an all-new range in 2014, comprising a full-size van, cab chassis, and small-business-focused Custom variant.
It is one of the rare vans to boast a maximum five-star independent crash rating.

WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR: FORD TRANSIT (2013 TO 2018)
As with any work vehicle (and the only people to ever buy a Ford Transit to pick up the milk owned a dairy) you have to find out what it's been used for and by whom.
If, for example, the Transit in question has spent the last five years carting around pool chemicals (which are highly corrosive) there's a fair chance there could be rust in evidence.
And a house painter's Transit is likely to be a complete paint-splotch mess inside. So check carefully.
There was also a recall for 2.2-litre diesel versions of the Transit to check for faulty fuel-injectors which, thanks to an assembly fault, could fail anytime, anywhere, leaving the vehicle stranded and unable to be started.
A Ford dealer will be able to identify affected vehicles and whether they've been fixed or not.
