Blacksmith workshop tool rim shrinker
$1,200
It actually took a day or two identify and to research exactly what this machine was when it first arrived at home.
This old rim shrinker is a display piece only in it's current condition. It's currently seized.
It has seen a lot of weather and neglect. It also has a couple of historic repairs and breakages.
The one main patch up on the moving arm tells a story, and is now part of the heritage of the machine.
This is a rare item today, much rarer than say horseworks, anvils and the like.
It is also quite a large unit on average among its peers from what I can gather?
From my experienced viewpoint, looking at this machine and considering a sympathetic restoration,I believe it could be managed by creating two replacement castings, which could run into several hundreds of dollars to do it right.
The large moving arm could be recast using sg iron, and it would then be a stronger than original replacement.
To simply replace worn and rusted pins and the one broken locking lever would be much simpler, and would leave it to show off the large old strap repair on the broken jaw.
To have it operational would require replacing the main pitman bar,as it and it's pins are completely rotted at the ends.
The latter idea of simply replace and repair the bare minimum would be my personal choice of approach to begin showing it off as a functional machine.
Either of those ideas amount to restoration enjoyment, or just present it as a static display as is.
Phone calls get the best results this end.
Thanks for viewing.

- Windmill wheel Windmill fan 6 foot Southern CrossThis 6 foot windmill wheel was part of the latest recovery project. I was able to purchase a complete wrecked windmill for parts and the wheel we see here was mostly buried and overgrown with pasture. I love these little six foot versions with their smart slender appearance and plenty of sails. This model is known out on the job as being quite lively with very little wind about. As i say, quite a personal favourite that i have watched turning many times while wondering how, while there seems to b$650Allansford, VIC•1w
