Ship Tank Australian Heritage Ornamental Feature
$500
These heavily riveted and sometimes galvanised cubes were the original shipping containers of the late 1800’s.
They were designed and created to carry bulk domestic resources to the colonies from the UK around that same epoch.
I’m comparing them to a shipping container mostly relative to their purpose, but they might even more closely resemble the palletised IBC of their day.
Just like the IBC with its pallet frame and 1000litre insert,a small industry obviously grew up around these back in the day once they were emptied.
I’m led to believe that some were transported in the belly of steam and sail ships filled with water as ballast, and once unloaded here were sold on to the needy pioneer farmers who used them for everything from drinking water tanks to dog kennels.
This one is in reasonably good order.
Phone calls are best here.
A little more description to follow.
Thanks.

The doors legs and flue pop are cast iron. It’s big and it’s well made. Perfect for a fancy shed or could be refurbished easily to put in the house. It needs a couple of firebricks replaced, and the baffle is warped, needs replacing also. Firm price. A phone call will be required at some stage . Thanks for viewing.$500Allansford, VIC•5d

- Windmill wheel Windmill fan 6 foot Southern CrossThis 6 foot windmill wheel was part of the latest recovery project. I was able to purchase a complete wrecked windmill for parts and the wheel we see here was mostly buried and overgrown with pasture. I love these little six foot versions with their smart slender appearance and plenty of sails. This model is known out on the job as being quite lively with very little wind about. As i say, quite a personal favourite that i have watched turning many times while wondering how, while there seems to b$650Allansford, VIC•2w
