Antique/Vintage 20th Cent original lithoprint woman on swing
$45
SHIPPING OFFERED
Offered for sale is this antique/vintage 20th Century original lithoprint, most likely European (possibly French or English) in origin and estimated to date from the 1900’s to 1950’s. Despite extensive research the artist, printer and original intention for the work is unknown but may have been an advertising piece or for a soft-book cover.
Designed in the style of George Barbier, Ancell Stronach, Georges Lepape, etc and printed on a soft card (or to which it may have been glued), it features the stylised image of a young woman with billowing floral-print dress (tied with a blue belt), large yellow bonnet (with red bow) and smart red shoes. Being perched upon a swing (and with regards the style of dress), the designer was obviously influenced by (or at least referencing) 18th Century French artist Jean-Honore Fragonard’s infamous Rococco painting, ‘The Swing’ (peek-a-boo!).
The piece was removed from the frame for inspection and a charming naive pencil sketch of a head was revealed on the reverse.
Can either be wall-mounted or placed onto a desk, sideboard, etc.
In very good original condition. There is a very small amount of light waterstain in the bottom right-hand corner (hard to see but noted for a full description). A previous owner has placed this in its current (modern) frame.
Measures 25.5cm x 25.5cm (framed) approximately.
Please check the photos as they form part of the item description.
Cash or direct deposit sale only. Can freight at buyers expense (must include insurance for damage or loss) or can personally deliver to Macedon Ranges, Melbourne, Geelong or Ballarat CBD’s for a fee. Where possible (or upon request) a physical inspection is available and always encouraged. Accurate as possible description at time of listing, however like any secondhand item is sold without guarantee or return so please ask any questions before purchase - as any sale is final.
