2 x Vint. 20th Century Australian June Dyson art pottery small vases
$22
Offered for sale is this pair of vintage 20th Century Australian art pottery small vases (or table salts), made by June Dyson and most likely dating from the 1960's. June was a significant designer of Australian pottery in the 20th Century, working from the late 1940's onwards and creating a wide range of domestic and art pottery items. Along with her husband she ran a series of successful potteries at Black Rock and Gembrook. June's work is held in both public gallery and private collections across Australia.
Both vases feature June's mid-Century Modernist practice of using a heavy, dripping glaze - each having a unique finish. Two practical as well as charming decorative items.
In very good original condition overall, one features a small blister that has occured in the firing process (due to an air bubble) which is not damage from use but reflects its creative nature as a hand-made item (you can actually see June's fingerprint next to it!).
One measures 8cm (h) x 7cm (diam.), the other 7cm (h) x 6.5cm (diam.) approximately.
Please check the pictures as they form part of the item description.
