Vintage 20th Century MCM South-East Asian teak bust Malay/Borneo?
$145
Offered for sale is this large vintage 20th Century South-East Asian carved teak-wood bust, most likely made in Indonesia post-WW2 and probably dating from the 1960’s to 1970’s.
The sculptor has skilfully carved this realistic image of a male (possibly a chief or warrior?). Given the clothing and personal items depicted, this may possibly show a tribal member from the Malay or Sarawak/Borneo region. The level of detail is high and carries a great deal of human expression and dignity.
Perfect statement piece for home or business decoration.
Measures 31cm (h) x 23.5cm (w) x 16.5cm (d) approximately.
Shows patination commensurate with its age as a genuine vintage item (losses to the necklace, and a crack), as pictured. It was carefully nourished with a natural beeswax to enhance and protect the finish that’s developed over many years.
Please check the pictures as they form part of the item description.
Cash or direct deposit sale only. Can freight at buyers expense (must include insurance for damage or loss) or can personally deliver to Macedon Ranges, Melbourne, Geelong or Ballarat CBD’s for a fee. Accurate as possible description at time of listing, however like any secondhand item is sold without guarantee or return so please ask any questions before purchase (as any sale is final).
